I Ignored the Pain too Long...Now It Really Hurts!
Want to know who ignores a chronic pain...until it gets this bad? EVERYBODY! In fact, the less physically strenuous your job, the more likely you are to ignore a slowly worsening situation.
The most common client at this stage is the White Collar office worker and homemaker. This person is characterized by the following.
Sits at a desk for 6+ hours a day.
Office work limits their physical movement. Their day consists of getting a coffee, water, or lunch. After which they sit some more!
Business people are climbing the corporate ladder, working long hours and not making time to exercise.
They drive their bodies hard by ignoring aches, pains and stiffness.
The result is chronic muscle tension, shortening of ligaments and stiffening of connective tissue.
In a word: PAIN!
A similar thing happens with homemakers! The idea of naps and soap operas is an urban myth. Homemakers are constantly on the go!
They manage a home, kids, errands, practices, shopping and meals!
They volunteer for causes, organizations, churches and events.
They are always carrying a child on one hip with two in tow.
By the end of the day they are exhausted and have no energy for exercise.
As a result, their body adapts to the stress by stiffening the connective tissue, shortening some muscles and lengthening others.
This adaptation results in disc pressure...and PAIN!
